Client Request and Project Goals:
A creative studio approached me to develop a short 3D animation film for educational and entertainment purposes. The brief called for a blend of stylized animal and human animation, immersive environments, and clear storytelling suitable for young audiences and digital platforms. The film needed to balance humor, moral messaging, and visual appeal, making it ideal for festivals and online viewing.
Workflow and Skills Utilized:
The project started with storyboarding and character concept art, establishing the personalities of the crow and Zulfi, the hungry man. Using Blender, I sculpted and rigged both characters, focusing on expressive facial features and smooth, exaggerated motion for cartoonish charm. The environment was built with hand-painted vegetation, stylized props, and atmospheric lighting to create a whimsical, engaging world.
Animation blocking followed, mapping out key story beats—thirst, hunger, problem-solving, and their eventual interaction. Each scene was carefully choreographed for clarity, timing, and emotional impact. Lip sync and body language were refined through multiple feedback rounds.
Texturing relied on a blend of procedural and hand-painted techniques to achieve a soft, storybook look. Final rendering used Blender’s advanced features for real-time previews and high-quality outputs.
Optimization and Export:
The short film was rendered in HD and optimized for YouTube, film festivals, and educational media. Sound design, voice acting, and music were integrated for a professional, cinematic experience.
